Blagoj Nacoski

Appreciated for his elegant singing style and exceptional musicality, Blagoj Nacoski became one of the most interesting voice for Mozart repertoire of his generation. The Macedonian tenor was born in 1979 in Skopje, in a family of musicians. He studied music and opera singing both in Macedonia and in Italy. The last years were particulary successful for Blagoj debuting as Pong (Turandot) at La Scala di Milano, Spoletta (Tosca) both at La Scala and in New York, Federico di Frengel (Stiffelio) at the Verdi Festival in Parma, Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) in Modena, Lucca and Sassari, Cantata for San Gennaro and Licino (Zenobia in Palmira) at San Carlo Theater of Naples, Almaviva (The Barber of Seville) in Genoa as well as the main tenor roles in the World Premieres of “La paura” from Orazio Sciortino in Novara, “La rivale” from Marco Taralli and Dante Alighieri in the newest opera about Dante composed by Joe Schittino. He also performed an operatic recital in Valencia and Winterreise and Die schone Mullerin in Milan, Skopje, Rome, Viterbo and Alessandria. Mr. Nacoski made his operatic debut in 2003 on the stage of the Rome Opera House (Teatro dell’Opera di Roma) performing the role of Arturo in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” under the conductor Daniel Oren and the stage director Graham Vick. Since that moment his career has been blooming across the continents. He sang at the most prestigious theaters and festivals in the world like Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Salzburg Festival, Bayerische Staatsoper di Monaco, Seattle Opera, Teatro Regio di Parma, Opernhaus Zurich, Frankfurt Oper, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Stuttgart Staatsoper, Macerata Opera Festival, the New York City Opera, Canadian Opera Company of Toronto, Royal Theater “La Monnaie” of Bruxelles, National Moravian-Slesian Theater of Ostrava, Teatro Solìs of Montevideo, Theatro Municipal of San Paolo, Miskolc Opera Festival, Macedonian National Opera of Skopje, Ohrid Summer Festival, Polish National Opera of Warsaw, Vilnius City Opera, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Theater, The New National Theater of Tokyo, Suntory Hall of Tokyo, and many others, singing roles like Ferrando (Mozart, Così fan tutte), Tamino (Mozart, The magic flute), Don Ottavio (Mozart, Don Giovanni), Belmonte (Mozart, The abduction of the Serraglio), Scipione (Mozart, Il sogno di Scipione), Alessandro (Mozart, Il Re pastore), Ernesto (Donizetti, Don Pasquale), Nemorino (Donizetti, L’elisir d’amore), Lindoro (Rossini, L’Italiana in Algeri), Alfredo (La Traviata), Don Narciso (Rossini, Il Turco in Italia), Almaviva (Rossini, The Barber of Seville), Don Ramiro (Rossini, La Cenerentola), Elvino (Bellini, La Sonnambula), Peter Quint (Britten, The Turn of the Screw), Lysander (Britten, A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Golo (Schumann, Genoveva) etc. Mr. Nacoski has performed so far with the most acclaimed conductors such as: Riccardo Chailly, Nicola Luisotti, Daniel Oren, Ivor Bolton, Bruno Bartoletti, Christoph von Dohnànyi, Fabrizio Maria Carminati, Riccardo Frizza, Thomas Guschlbauer, Antonello Allemandi, Will Crutchfield, Jonathan Webb, Paul Daniel, Julia Jones, Gerard Korsten, Robin Ticciati, Marcello Rota and the stage directors: Graham Vick, Gabriele Lavia, Daniele Abbado, Peter Kazaras, Marco Gandini, Alejandro Chacon, Michael Hampe, Mario Martone, Jürgen Flimm, Luc Bondy, Nikolaus Lehnhof, Christof Loy, John Cox, Claus Guth, Francesco Micheli, Marco Carniti, Michael Sturminger, Martin Glaser, Denis Krief, Davide Livermore, Michael Patrick Albano and others. In 2008 he was nominated “Ambassador of the Culture of Macedonia” on behalf of the Macedonian Government. In 2015 he was named “A Man of the Year” from the daily newspaper “Nova Makedonija”. In 2018 he was awarded for his performance of the role of Almaviva (Teh Barber of Seville) in Russia and a Recognition of the japanese Government for the promotion of the Culture and the relations beetwen Macedonia and Japan. He also recorded several CDs and DVDs for Deutsche Grammophone, Decca, Dynamic, TDK Music, Bongiovanni as well for the Japanese TV HNK, the National Macedonian Radio and Television MRTV and the Italian RAI.
