Stevan Karanac
Stevan Karanac, tenor, starts his musical education in music school „Dr Miloje Milojević“, in Kragujevac with professor Lidija Jevremović Sofija. After accelerated education he starts the Faculty of music in 2014. He gets the Bachelor and Master’s degree under professor Nikola Mijailović. He finished his education in Opera studio „Borislav Popović“ in the National theater in Belgrade in seasons 2016/2018. He attended numerous masterclasses with world-renowned artists - singers, directors and conductors. Stevan is a doctoral student at the Department of Solo Singing at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, in the class of professor Nikola Mijailović. He is studying Theater directing at the Academy of Arts of the University of Banja Lukathe in the class of director Vladan Đurković, his co-mentor on a doctoral art project that explors possibilities of performing dramatic repertoire for the singers of a lyrical voices. Stevan’s rich concert career in Serbia and abroad is marked with cooperation with many notable conductors and ensembles. Apart from chamber repertoire for the voice and piano, he performs concert repertoire performing cantatas, masses and oratorios: Requiem - Mozart, Siehe, Finsternis bedecket das Erdre ich - Rolle, 9. simfonie - Beethoven, 1st symphony – Scriabin, Carmina burana - Orff, Magnificat - Bach, Membra Jesu nostri - Buxtehude, Dixit Dominus - Handel and others. He performs his arrangements for orchestra and voice of the songs of Milojevic and Schubert for the first time in Serbia. He devotes his singing career to opera repertoire, performing more than thirty opera roles, like principal roles in operas: Bastien und Bastienne, Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, Don Pasquale, L’elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, L’occasione fa il ladro, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Eugene Onegin, Gianni Schicchi, La bohème, La traviata, Rigoletto, Il trovatore, Aida, Carmen ( also La tragédie de Carmen), Faust, Vladimir i Kosara and others.
